This activity, open to the general public and music professionals, will introduce attendees to musical acoustics and the fundamentals of sound (and music) generation and perception.

This activity, open to the general public and music professionals, will introduce attendees to musical acoustics and the fundamentals of sound (and music) generation and perception.

There will be demonstrations to show how sound is generated with several types of musical instruments (e.g. string, percussion or wind instruments), how sound is stored to be later reproduced by an audio system, or how human beings perceive sound to determine whether or not they enjoy a musical piece.

This eminently practical activity is aimed at anyone interested in understanding the basics of musical acoustics.
