Workshops:
Non-Newtonian fluids. Make use of the mixture cornstarch and water to show how in some fluids, such as this, the pressure exerted on it determines its behavior. Attendees will be able to prepare the mix and check for themselves the behavior of this fluid in different conditions.
Endothermic ice cream. Perform an endothermic reaction and in the absence of a solvent in which only by manual agitation is possible to mix the reagents involved and lower the temperature to -10ºC.
Attendees could perform reagent mixing and check the low temperature that is reached. It is also a good example of the application of the principles of green chemistry (solvent-free reactions).
