Do you know the secrets of pollination, nutrient recycling and pest control??

Do you know that, in order to preserve the planet’s biodiversity, we should first preserve insects and plants?

You can find all the answers at the stand of the CIBIO Research Centre on the University of Alicante campus, with dynamic workshops to learn more about the tiny and wonderful world of insects and plants.

 Activities:

• Discover the fascinating world of coprophagous beetles: a game and posters to learn about the key role of these animals.
• Discover the world of insects: entomological boxes from the CEUA-CIBIO collection and posters to explain the importance of insects and their types.
• Discover the secret microscopes and magnifying glasses of insects.
• The scents of plants: with plants and essential oils, to explain the extraction process of essential oils and how they are applied for biological control.
• The world of syrphid flies. Insect cages with banker plants for keeping greenflies and syrphid flies alive, to explain their usefulness in biologically controlling greenhouse pests.
• Make your own magnet or badge about biodiversity and take it home.
• Face painting workshop for children.
• Workshop: colouring images of insects to take them home.
