A theoretical-practical workshop on salt lakes and the microorganisms living in them. A short collaborative activity will introduce attendees to these unique ecosystems. The workshop will provide an overview of the research work conducted at the UA on these extreme environments, for participants to learn about the type of microorganisms inhabiting salt lakes and their potential applications. There will be four practical workshops, three for handling and experimenting with microorganisms and one for handling plants to extract and use pigments.

       DNA extraction from microorganisms.

       Antibiotic susceptibility tests.

       Extraction of pigments from plants and microorganisms.

       pH determination using natural pigments.

Children will receive a certificate to recognise their excellent research work.
