BRINGING MARINE SCIENCE CLOSER TO SOCIETY

The workshops organized are as follows:

• Information stand on the R&D&I Plan on Marine Sciences in Spain: ThinkInAzul project.
It will show the activities and objectives of the project at national and regional level and the role of the University of Murcia as scientific coordinator.
• Interaction with ROVs (AUV COLLAB project, funded by ThinkInAzul).
The researchers intend to show the prototypes of marine monitoring submarines developed in ThinkInAzul. We will try to have a pool to let visitors who can manage them.
• Zooplankton observation with magnifying glass (AMPHIS project, funded by ThinkInAzul).
Guided by researcher Victoria Fernández, different samples of marine zooplankton will be shown to the attendees.
• Marine Governance Observatory (OGMAR project, funded by ThinkInAzul).
An online governance assessment platform for marine protected areas (MPAs) designed as a tool for managing MPAs and as an educational and participatory tool will be displayed.
• Information stand on the FLD-FISH project (financed by ThinkInAzul).
Fatty liver disease in aquaculture fish worldwide, as well as the challenge of non-invasive assessment, will be made public. In addition, attendees will be encouraged to see biological samples under the microscope to attract the attention of young people and try to arouse curiosity and motivation. Finally, a QR code will be provided to access a mobile quiz game in GENIALLY, fun and enjoyable

Advanced fishing management systems, pilot projects App Lonja: from sea to sea; and WiSea: smart buoy with digital camera and internet connection to monitor artisanal fishing gear and catch control in Almadraba and Moruna.

Two pilots will be shown digitization of artisanal fishing (physically and through a promotional video) carried out by the University of Murcia (ThinkInAzul and Digipesca projects) in collaboration with 3 fishing guilds in the Region of Murcia (San Pedro del Pinatar, La Azohía and Águilas), Galpemur and Odin solutions.
