The planned activities are as follows:
- “And who do you dub?”. Misadventures of a novice audiovisual translator
Playful and festive monologue.
Yeray García, professional translator, graduate of the University Master in Editorial Translation of the UMU and occasional monologist, will share his experience and tell attendees some of the funniest anecdotes of the profession.
A double session of approximately 15/20 min c/u (19:15 h the first; 19:45 h the second).
- Can emotions be measured? Know the tools of emotra and adance projects
Demonstrations of research.
Ana Rojo, Paula Cifuentes, Purificación Meseguer and Marina Ramos, researchers of the EMOTRA projects (https://www.um.es/emotra/) and ADance will show attendees the workings of some of the physiological and behavioral data collection and analysis instruments they use in their research on emotion and translation, such as electrodermal skin activity meters, pulsometers to measure heart rate and variability, the facial motion reader and salivets to measure cortisol in saliva.
The activity will be carried out continuously between 19 and 22 h.
- LOST IN INTERPRETATION
Demonstrations of interpretation.
Professors Ana Foulquié, Marina Molina and Isabel García Olmos will show small groups of assistants the Interpretation Laboratory of the University of Murcia, located on the second floor of the Aulario de la Merced, and explain the operation of different types of interpretations through practical demonstrations.
A double session of approximately 15/20 min c/u (20:15 h the first; 20:45 h the second).
- 1, 2, 3… TRANSLATE AGAIN
Translation competition.
Visitors can translate microtexts from English, French and Italian into Spanish on two computers located inside the booth of the Translation and Interpretation Department. Professors M.ª Ángeles Orts, Arianna Alessandro and Juan Goberna will provide assistance to participants through recommendations on online resources, specialized dictionaries, translation comments, etc.
There will be prizes for the best translation proposals (various merchandising products from the Translation and Interpretation Department or the UMU).
Attendees can participate in the activity between 19 and 21:00 h. The jury will decide at 21:30 h.
