OPTICS AND PHOTONICS: SCIENCE, APPLICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES OF LIGHT

The scheduled workshops are as follows:

• FORMING IMAGES INSIDE THE EYE

Eye model and explanation of more common ametropias such as myopia, farsightedness and astigmatism.

• OPTICAL INSTRUMENT DESIGN: MAGNIFYING GLASS, MICROSCOPE AND TELESCOPE

Construction using simple optical bench instrument lenses.

• POLARIZATION: GENERATION AND ANALYSIS

Explanation of polarization, its measurement and generation by polarizers

• MEASUREMENT OF OUTDOOR ILLUMINATION AND OPTICAL QUALITY OF THE SKY (PHOTOMETRY) AND LIGHT POLLUTION

Photometric measuring instruments will be used to measure lighting and light pollution to raise awareness of this circumstance.
