An experiment to show the importance of two-phase systems and the electrosynthesis of conductive polymers, proving that all that glitters is not gold.
This experimental demonstration will allow attendees to discover a little-known technique, namely electrochemistry at a liquid-liquid interface. We have simplified the system to such an extent that only a glass vial, with no electrodes, is needed to direct a reaction and see electrochemistry in action. Using basic equipment, we will show how a potential is established at the interface and carry out tests with conductive polymers, AAA batteries and resistors.
