This workshop will show the research potential of Arab and Islamic tangible and intangible heritage in the Valencia Region from the Al-Andalus (and especially Mudejar and Morisco) periods. While little known, this heritage is present throughout the region.

Main Event ERN UA -2022- Workshop “The legacy of Al-Andalus: mudejares and moriscos in the valencia region. hidden culture and heritage.”
This workshop will show the research potential of Arab and Islamic tangible and intangible heritage in the Valencia Region from the Al-Andalus (and especially Mudejar and Morisco) periods. While little known, this heritage is present throughout the region.
Exhibition of photographs and/or panels showing Islamic archaeological sites. Attendees will be able to ask questions about the information displayed. There will also be maps showing the location of alquerías (farmhouses), mosques, ribats, Moorish quarters, etc, as well as a Moroccan darbuka recital. A Moroccan percussionist will volunteer his time to participate in the activity. Calligraphy and henna workshops will be offered, also with a volunteer expert in calligraphy and henna tattooing.
